BAMA BASSER
wondering what some of you thought. Mine is a spot they pull harder than any bass species I catch and almost never surrender.
jaime
can't be too picky here in Chi-Town! I'm happy with any bass that bites my lure.

siebler_custom_baits
Spotted bay bass then calico/kelp bass. IN fresh i only got LM here and they are wimps compared to a spotted bay or calico however they kill sandbass whaich dont pull till they see the boat. Of course we got White Sea Bass and the protcted Black seabass but i wont count them since min size for the whites is 28" or so. The spotties sandies and calicos all resemble freshwater bass and are about same size average but grow to smaller sizes than LM do. a 4 lb spottie is catch of a lifetime while with sands and calicos they get 10+ fairly often. basskat
Smallmouth, Spots, Largemouth A smallmouth and spot pull about the same. A spot is a little easier to catch.
Art Brush
I like the 32 pound largemouths I catch at my test lake. They put up a good fight but there's too much PETA around to let me keep'em so I toss'em back. lol If not them then smallies on topwater at dusk when the water is calm. alsworms
I'll take a 2-pound Spot over a 5-pound largemouth ANYDAY!! Like Bama says, they sure know how to fight. If you get the opportunity to catch a decent one this time of year, it's quite a hoot. Cold water makes 'em even more agressive. They have pretty much taken over our lakes around here, and I don't mind a bit. Chris By the way, our Spots are "Alabama Spotted Bass", so it's no wonder that Bama knows what he's talkin' about! bladesandbaits
I love em all.Gotta admit magnum spots have me hooked.Living so close to Laniesr/Russell/Keowee cant resist them.Caught several 5 and 6 lder's this year. 2nd is Largemouth when schooling 3rd Smallmouth only because have to travel long way to fish for them Personally I have caught smallmouth and Spottty's same size range and spotty's wins the prize. Big spot like a run away train. There greedy, eat when full, follow bait every where. You find bait/you find spot's/they can be caught. kfellmy
I used to creek fish in Indiana and love the smallie. Now I canal fish here in Ft. Myers/Cape Coral area. Some of the canals are landlocked/brackish water and you can catch a redfish on one side of the stump and a largemouth from the other side of the same stump. Incredible. All the fish have learned to adjust to the minimal salinty levels. tarpon also live in these canals. So while you fish with a plastic worm or jig always have a rod with a large topwater ready. Took a trip to Miami and went peacock bass fishing. that was amazing. I do miss the smallmouth though and in deeper creek water...the spot. Fave is the smallmouth. RiverMan
Have only caught small and large.....no comparison, the smallmouth smoke em! I would love to catch stripers and peacock bass someday tho, they look awesome! The pic is of me about 20 yrs ago, maybe longer, with a smallmouth just over 4lbs. If you look on the tip of the rod (a berkley lightening rod) you will see the tiniest of baits. This was a small 1" rubber shad-like bait that I was making at that time from two-part plaster molds......imagine that? They would never turn out very smooth because at that time I didn't know how to finish off the plaster but they were very effective nevertheless. I was fishing a small river near my home in Washington and had thrown grubs first and when nothing happend I tied on this old reliable bait. The fish picked it up as it was gently tumbling down through a narrow shoot. Jed
