tomjenkins
Hi Everyone. I recently received some aluminum molds from my father who used to make his own lures. These are two piece molds. Is it possible to use lead in these aluminum molds. Will the lead stick to the aluminum? If it will is there some kind of Mold Release that will keep it from sticking? I wanted to make sure before I try. If anyone has tried this, can you give me some tips. Even if its "Don't Do It". I want to be able to make lead heads to put inside of soft plastic baits. Thanks in advance for your responses. Tom Jenkins
texasbass1
Most of the molds for jigs and spinnerbaits are made of aluminum. No releasing agent needed, just make sure the mold in hot before you start to get good poors. Fishing isn't life, it is much more important. Husky
And wear eye protection. You may never need it but it only take one time for you to lose an eye. Do it in a well ventlated area (Outside is best) and remember, moisture and hot lead is not a good thing!
