fishin glue on plastics

Recommended Posts

I've never used it myself, but I think I know what your speaking of. River Smallies (RS.com) has a sponser that sells one called Pro's Softbait Glue and some have used it. Not sure whether it's all that, but you could check the boards for info. There's a few fellas here that are also very present at RS that might know more on this one. You did not mention the name of the product you refer to, however I suspect that it is similar to the glue mentioned above. Glues are like that, few make them for many to put there name on. CA's, anyway. jrav

Pro's Soft Bait Glue is also a sponsor on this site, & I'm one of the dealers! It works perfectly on soft plastics. I've played with it & have glued all kinds of plastic baits together, even from different companies.

I've also been using it for fly tying & some lure making, and it holds very well to everything that I've used it on so far, including monofilament.

Last winter I bought a 12" plastic shad body, and cut it up for demonstrating the glue at a show to folks who troll for Stripers in the Chesapeake Bay. I was able to glue it back together, and cut it up again & re-glue it several times during a two day show. Not once did it seem to affect the wiggle of that shad, it was like it's still new. The glue works as advertised. It will also hold plastics to a hook & doesn't get real hard after it sets like other CA type glues, and stays a little pliable. Plus it's guaranteed not to dry out in the bottle for up to a full year. I don't know how many tubes of super glue I've thrown away because they dried up in the tube.

The only negative thing I've found with it is it comes out of the bottle a little too fast sometimes, especially from a new bottle, and I've almost glued my finger together a few times because of it, but so far that's the only thing I don't like about it, and Mike Rice, the guy who produces it has told me he's working on a way to fix that problem.

I've never tried to use it for filling large gaps, as it's real thin. I'm sure if you talk to Mike, he can give you better information about that. He does have another similar product that can be used for filling holes, so he certainly would be the one to talk to.
