cheesehead
Here's an idea for any one using do-it molds. I put a small gate hook and screw eye across the back of the hanles on my do-it molds to hold the mold shut while I pour my lead. No more messing with clamps to hold he mold shut. I've only been pouring jig heads since Christmas (guess what my preasant was ) so I don't know i this may not be a new idea but it's new to me. This may work with other molds as well but I only own do-it's right now.
siebler_custom_baits
I dont clamp. I hold the handels together. It is much much faster for me to do this however i see how this or clamps helps with huge molds maybe. Cool idea if you clamp them.
cheesehead
I was having a problem with my jig hooks falling out of place. It probably has somthing to do with how I preheat my molds (on top of my wood stove) and melt my lead, inside the wood stove. I just place a small kettle on top of the coals. you have to watch closely that you don't over heat the lead though. As soon as the lead is melted I pull the kettle and pour my jigs. LedHed
Cheesehead You might considering in investing in a bottom feed pot. Lot easier to use, safer, and would speed up your production. You have to be extremely careful with melted lead. Lots of good info in the archives.
