Spike
My first two piece mold is finally hard enough to begin grinding on. It is a mold of a 3" Yum Dinger. I was just wondering if anyone has any recommendations for the diameter I should cut the sprue for filling the mold. Also, should I cut vents to allow the mold to fill easier? Thanks for any help. Senkosam
Vents don't help and create a mess. Just my take.
Big Splash
The sprue in my 3" mullet baitfish mold is 1/4", at the nose of the bait, but it is about 5/8" above that to form a reservoir for hot plastic to be drawn into the bait as the plastic cools. Helps prevent dimples in the finished bait.
Pit Bass
Ditto what Big Splash says. My 3" swimbait has a 1/4" sprue hole with a 9/16 " reserve funnel. Remember to hit the center of the pour hole when pouring ! Pit Bass
