Chris Catignani
What does it look like when you "burn" your plastics? I keep reading about it and figure I probably have done it and maybe didnt know. What are the ramifications of burning a batch? Is it ruined? alsworms
Yellowing and a smell you'll never forget lol. And in some cases it might be saved, but for the most part it's done.
Jig Man
If you over heat and burn it you will definitely know it. It will smoke and stink.
ACAMACIAN
I also find when I reheat lighter colors especially white pearl they brown a little bit like they have burned. And you are right it is a disgusting smell when you really overheat.

Not necessarily. That's more than likely the plastisol. If it's bubbling at the very end, you could have a problem, but most of the time bubbles appear and will dissolve before pouring. And I'm sure most of you know, but just in case.........heat stabilizer in small amounts.........especially with those lighter colors.......is a life changer!

I always add a small amount of new plastisol and heat stabilizer. I never have any discoloration from the stabilizer.

I always had a couple gallons set aside with stabilizer just for tails and lighter colors.

Just about anyone who sells plastic will sell stabilizer as well. I know for sure that MF and Lure Craft do.
