Painter1
I have had some good luck with the Core Swimbait jigs https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Core_Tackle_The_Ultimate_Swimbait_Hook/descpage-CTUS.html?_gl=1*1q70cwh*_up*MQ..&gclid=CjwKCAjw44mlBhAQEiwAqP3eVlzQ_gw9sRyz64u61blWUsP-O6VwW_7ezb5QXwQ3ExOudC1dkv0OphoCmYcQAvD_BwE (rarelyu available) but would like a 3/16 with a 2/0 hook. So am wondering if any of you guys have ideas. I’m not a talented mold maker.
mjs
Maybe pinching a rubber core sinker onto the shank of the hook?
Rollo
I watched a couple of YouTube videos on how guys made their own hover jigs. I simply put a hook in my vise and wrapped in a lead nail weight followed by a drop of super glue. It held fine. The issue is in rigging it. I trashed a few soft plastics trying to get them rigged straight and true.
21xdc
I think you could just wrap solder wire around the hook, and a dab of super glue. Easy to adjust weight.

Munkin
Going to try and make some of these myself using a Neko weight that I sand into a point. Figure I can just mold it then cut out a place for the hook and pour. Allen
Kasilofchrisn
You might look into LED by Larvalace. It's like the lead wire but flat and comes on a small roll.
Arne
Not exactly sure what you are doing, but if you have some old lead core line you can strip the lead out of it. It will wrapeasily around a hook. Little super glue with it and should be set. Arne.

I would still use gloves and a mask.
kevinj
I have been making these a few ways Best is lead wire wrapped on the hook shank, up to 1/8" works. Also used pinch on sinker direct on the shank, some are better than others, i prefer thinner and sleek. They work better than rubber core and have a smoother taper I have heat shrunk lead strips, toothpick weights, ss screws, and lashed former to hook shank with old braided line, for the over the nose weights. I will be attempting a lead mold to make them neater and hopefully a little easier to rig on the plastics, will report back Kevinj
jigmeister
you can use soft lead wire fly tyers use for adding weight to wet flies get a roll of .030 wire and wrap the desired length tightly around the hook shank next paint brush on a thin coat of 2 ton epoxy over the wrapped lead to hold in place . You can taper the epoxy at each end of the lead to make a point to enter the plastic bait easier .
Ogajiga
Or just get a custom mold made - serveral providers post on this website. Yah, the up front cost might be a jolt but the mold will last a lifetime and more benefitting not only oneself but buds & family. Might even sell a few castings & the mold will eventually pay for itself. Fishing ones own custom design successfully is incomparably satisfying.
