badfish03
Ive got a huge pile of old plastic baits that I have sorted by color to attempt repours while I am waiting for supplies from De-Mart. How do you clean these before you re melt them or should I bother Some of them had hooks rust in the compartment next to them that carried over. TIA Robert
woodsac
You can wash them with soap and water to remove any oil. Make sure they are dry before you melt. But...I wouldn't waste the time if I were you. They usually stink. The plastic discolors and the flake curls up and loses color as well. badfish03
only reason I am doing it is to get some practice in before I get the real goods. Sides I hate to see that much olastic go to waste.
woodsac
They would be fine for practice. Just don't expect the same from regular plastic. Expect better and easier But yes, it would be fine to learn how the plastic pours and approximately how long it takes to heat and reheat in between pours. badfish03
Cool then it won't be a complete waste of time. As if anything fishing related could possibly be a waste of time.
