Jigsisme
I narrowed it down on the colors and glitter to order but how much plastic (Calhoun) should I order? This will be my first time at pouring so I don't want to run out too fast. Is a gallon enough or should I purchase 5 gallons? Thanks. woodsac
It all depends on how much you intend to pour If you want to experiment with colors, then you'll encounter some waste. A gallon is good for a beginner, but if you can afford to purchase 5 gallons, do it! Remember, approximately six (skinny) 6" worms with 1 oz of plastic. That's an approximate. Senkosam
you can make alot of baits from a gal plus you can easily remelt surplus plastic or old/junk worms anytime you want, as long as you don't overheat.

alsworms
I'm with Jake. If you can afford 5 gallons, go for it! Chances are, once you learn a few tricks, you'll start pouring more and it won't take long 'til you're kicking yourself for not getting more plastic. Most other materials (color, glitter, etc.) go a long way, so for starters you can spend a little less on those and invest more in the plastic. BassnG3
Another vote for 5 gallons if you can afford it. It's addictive Scott
charkins
5 gallons and as much glitter and color as your credit card will stand! Making soft baits is addicting. The color combinations and types of baits are limited only by your imagination. Good Luck and I hope this doesn't cause a divorce if you are married Cal
Will
If I knew back then what I know now, I wouldn't have wasted my money with Quarts of plastics or 1 gallon, I would have gone for the 5-gallon deal. It is cheaper that way and they do not last as long as one would think... Just my $.
Mojo
Just for fun... 6 worms per oz. x 128 ounces per gallon = 768 worms 768 x 5 gallons = 3,840 worms $100 (5 gallon bucket, shipped) / 3,840 = 2.6 cents per worm I like to get 5 gallon buckets. I've found after adding salt and softener to make senkos you will get 5-6 per ounce as well.
