mickeyg
So I finally got a griddle and use it to preheat injectors and molds. I tried using it to meld body to tail two-color 4.5" finesse worm aluminum molds. The tail joined perfectly but I could not get the worms to release from the mold with tearing them all apart--except for a few of the twenty. I think I had the griddle set at 200F. What am I missing in the process? Thanks, Mickey
Jig Man
I can’t answer that question but I have a couple of suggestions, mendit or a hot knife might work.
alsworms
Couple of things I'm thinking..... Is your plastic mixed thoroughly enough? How long are you waiting before removing the worms?
Les Young
Harbor freight hot knife is the way to go. Heat knife, slide a section that is to be put together down each side of blade, stick together, hold a couple seconds & good to go. Very easy & works great. Dink Master
Please post a picture of your mold and one of the good worms. Hand poured or injection mold? Not sure why you are using a griddle?
mickeyg
Hot knife - yes I have a hot knife but mainly use it to fuse skirts to lure I didn't keep any pics. Some of the molds I waited 30 minutes and the others I waited 3 hours to cool. It is a hand pour mold. I was using a griddle because I was trying to pour the body of 20 finesse worms in black and then come back pour the last inch in chartreuse. Rather than my usual method of pour the body and switch and pour the tail.
Jig Man
Have you tried oiling the mold?
Bass-Boys
Do they come out of the mold when you do the color switching ?

My bad.
