vanillagorilla
I am thinking of trying to build my first rod, loking at a flipping stick. One thing I can't seem to find is a real seat like on the Kistler's eg: no foregrip. Is there a special seat made for this or do you just not install a foregrip? Also, any suggestions on an 8 foot one pice blank? I don't know where or how to begin , but reading this forum peaks my interest
Mattman
Just don't put a fore grip on. I'm not sure who's reel seat they are using. But the reel seat and fore grip are independant of each other. Shikari has a few 8' one piece FS blanks in their SHIII and SHII lines. Steer clear of Loomis due to poor quality. Most other blanks are extension handle models.
Maze
Matt is correct about the foregrip being a seperate piece that you may choose to add or delte. There are many good rod blanks out there. Your budget can guide you somewhat. I'd be happy to discuss this and any other rod building questions you have. Just drop me a line. midstreamrods@yahoo.com Ray
Mr B
I am also building my bass (casting) rods w/out a forgrip now. Be sure that you still get a winding check to put in front of the seat to cover up the gap left between the balnk and seat. With spinning rods I use a small 1" fore grip with a small outer dia. to put my index finger on. This is comfortable for me. Mr B
