CHUCKV309
Hey folks, I'm a newbie to tackle making and I have a couple of questions about paints to use on spinner baits and crankbaits (wood and plastic) for painting with an airbrush. I have an Iwata hi-line HP-CH and I am wondering what type of primers, paints, and clearcoats to use on them. I have never airbrushed before and I am getting ready to order some paint. Are the vinyl paints from Stamina good to use? I want something that is easy to use, clean-up, and somewhat durable. Any help is much appreciated. :
SeminoleFan
For your cranks wood and plastic I would use either Createx from micheals crafts or any acyrilic from there too. Thin the acyrilic with a few drops of water. (of which I use). For clearcoating crankbaits I prefer Devcon 2 ton epoxy. Some use e-tex. You can buy the devcon and Acrylic paints at walmart. If you use devcon make sure you get the 30 minute "2 Ton" and not the 5 minute stuff. as far as spinnerbaits go, you can use the same thing, paint with acyrilic and use devcon to coat them. Make sure you do a search in the forums on paint and clearcoat, for there is MUCHO info! Good luck and we look forward to seeing some of you work. Welcome aboard.
