Lincoya
Coley, It's about time that I came down there and checked those baits out personally and see if they look as good in my hand as they do in the pictures. Plus, I need some personalized instruction on how to do it. Gene

vytautas
When you do these foam lures do you always use wood for the original or have you tried different materials?Robert I use some kind of white polyethylene plastic. Epoxy' date=' or any other kind of adhesives do not stick to it here is the link to my tutorial: [url']http://www.tackleunderground.com/board/viewtopic.php?t=3200&highlight=[/url] vytautas
Coley
For some models, I use a material called, rigid PVC foam board. Resin will not hardly stick to it and it can be cut, drilled, sanded and painted. I have made a couple of baits from the stuff.

The material you are using looks like the same stuff they make 1 gallon milk cartons out of here. I have seen it in 1-2 inch thick sheets here in TX but now I cant remember where. Coley can you tell me where you are getting this PVC Foam Board your using? TIA Robert
Lincoya
Robert, Go to www.azek.com You can find a local source from the website. Coley's right. It works great. However, it is a little slow to sand and when you carve it, the chips tend to want to stick to you. Gene
badfish03
Is this the same stuff as the pvc dowels and moulding they carry at Home Depot in the trim board area? Robert
Skeeter
Great work Coley. Now paint those suckers up and post them again. You are really getting into this foam thing aren't you? Skeeter

Coley
Right now I use wood for my model on all round baits. I do my mold making by using 2 halves to my model, rather than trying to find a center on a one piece model. It's really very simple. I have learned how to attach 2 pieces of wood together on the ends, and turn them, when separated, I have 2 halves for a model exactly the same. As far as using rigid PVC foam boad for a model, I use 2 pieces of equal thickness and spot glue them together. I then cut out my model, sand and shape it the way I want it, separate it and I have an exact center for making my mold. In both cases I take a piece of aluminum tape and put it on a piece of very smooth hardwood, that is about 1/4" thick. I put one half of my model on the tape using screws from the bottom side. I then build a box around the model. When this half of the mold is made, I glue the model back together, clean up the seam, and pour the second half of the mold against the first. Lincoya, gave me one piece of the foam board and I made a couple of baits out of it. The local sign company here gave me a few scrap pieces, I use for models for molding. The sign company uses it because they can drill and tap it. And comes in many differen't colors. It will hold a eyescrew without any pull out. Lincoya and I tested it. They also use Lexan and have some scrap pieces of that.
