dlaery
i get my plastic from color tech, med soft. I am using an shooting star melting pot at 280F. On Pearl, and bubble gum the plastic gets darker as I pour. If I go lower than 280 then it doesn't' pour well at all. would stabilizer help? in the pic the pearl on the right side looks good, on the left it is getting darker. Thanks Edited December 28, 2023 by dlaery
alsworms
I don't know anything about that plastic, but yes stabilizer would definitely help. Start with maybe a 1/2 cup per gallon.

Tiderunner
Same here on the plastic, but my experience is the longer I keep the lighter colors heated, they tend to darken. I now only blend what I can use quickly, then I'll re-blend. Don't know what stabilizer you'll be using, but I use Lureworks, and it's brown, so that may affect the lighter colors as well. Darker colors? Who cares? They're already darker.
Jig Man
Just keep in mind that most if not all heat stabilizers are not clear and they will color your plastisol.
dlaery
then that is probably part of my problem, i am using too much re-melt. when we mix more
Apdriver
I don’t use the shooting star or your plastic but whenever I remelt, I add heat stabilizer. May not completely solve the darkening issues but will help some.

Les Young
I usually only do 4 or 6 ounce batches but if remelting fresh plastic don't i have a problem . Iff heating more than once i always put a lid of stabilizer in it. Any older left over plastic i've stored for a while i cut up small & fill a 1 cup pyrex & add a lid full to it & that works out good too.

I was never a big producer by any means, but I always kept a gallon or 2 of plastic set aside with added stabilizer for re-heats. Tails, claws, etc.
