HOMER
Going through my production soft plastic assortment to find some favorites to try and make myself. A great "grub" that has worked for me is the Yamamoto "Fat Ika". I can figure out the body, but how do you attempt that skirt? Simular to cutting a tube? The big difference is that the skirt is naturaly spread open. This ,I.M.O. is why it works so well. I am new to pouring so be gentle. Thanks,
charkins
If you cut the tube as far as the Ika skirt, it will spread out too. You could take a senko type stick mold and cut off part of it. Dip a tube and cut it most of the way up. Fuse the two together with super glue or the pro (whatever) glue that is made specifically for soft plastics. I have some of that glue, but can't think of the name of it. I does work well. It would be a bit of trouble, but it would work. Cal
badfish03
Has anyone tried using a aluminum pipe to dip these? If you loaded the grub into the pipe so only the tip of it protrudes out and you heated the tip with a candle just prior to dipping it should fuse the two together. It would be a major pain in the butt but you could probably do it. Robert
Delw
Ika's and grubs from yamomoto are all soldered on to the skirts. Ive tried the tube idea with the Ika's and I didnt get the same results as teh ika's Like you said they flare out. I make the ika body's(another thing I havent put on the site ) The skirts can be bought from yamamotos in quanity. What you do is take a knife blade(flat) soldering tip on a soldering iron and hold it between the body and the skirt, hit the hot button and let it melt a tad then slide it out while applying pressure to the skirt and the body. Its extreamly easy and extreamly fast. If you dont want a double skirt take a razor blade and cut it in half. Delw
