BASS8BAITS
Hey Chris, did ebay get you too?
charkins
What was the deal with the auctions getting withdrawn? I can't image plastic worms being dangerous, immoral, or illegal. That defies reason! Cal
GB GONE
i'm not saying this is what happenned but Ebay has been on a terror lately looking for website addresses and hyperlinks to websites in the auction advertisement. If they find them, they end your auction. On pretty good word, the best way to get around that is to NOT put www before your website address (ie ghostbaits.com) or just list the item location as www.ghostbaits.com. You can put the address in the information part below the auction that gives the buyer information on what to do when the auction closes. Somehow...somewhere..its all got to do with $$$ and Ebay getting their share (of ours)!!! Jim
alsworms
You guys guessed it. Ebay is on one of their terrors lately. Last week, they ended a bunch of my auctions because of a direct link ( www.alsworms.com ). This week, they've ended some because of the alsworms.com. You just gotta love those greedy &&^%&^$^))(^^)*!!!!!! The funny thing is EVERY ONE of my auctions has a link, so why do they end just a few??? Why not wipe out the whole dang lot???? I mean by the time ebay and paypal take their cut, we're just making a fortune on these worms, aren't we???.........NOT!! What's next.......will they make me change my user name??? My vent is over........ Chris
GB GONE
Maybe we need to worry about the ".com" also. They could do a search for that also!!! It just sucks that they keep picking away at everything.....your username might be next Chris To bad we can't get the TU auction going better!!! Only problem with that is most of everybody else's baits are better than mine :!: jim
BASS8BAITS
Are we allowed to add ".com" to our user names on ebay?
alsworms
Good points fellas. You just never know what their next rule will be. Gonna try Jim's idea and use my web address in the location section. Heck, the only time I ever make any money on ebay is when a customer stumbles on my website, and now they're trying to take that away. cullin8s
I'm wondering if they actually go in your auction and look or do they search for it somehow. If they dont actually go look you could probably use an image with the site addy on it, that way it cant be found in a search. Another possibility is to link so some pictures of the item besides theirs, and uh oh the page with the pictures happens to have a link to your site. Just some ideas that i had, they might not even work but who knows.
GB GONE
They have a search function that looks for hyperlinks to other sites and www, maybe it includes .com. You could put your website address across your picture as text. It may interfere with people looking at your picture of your bait. I'm with Chris though....people would find my website and make an order or 2. That's gone now!!! Oh well.....yahoo anyone???

badfish03
Can you get away with something like this? Robert
alsworms
Hey that looks familiar..... You know....I thought about that, but I'm too lazy to add text to all my pictures.
charkins
I am using Jasc Paint Shop Photo Album software. It is real easy to add text to the picture. It isn't very expensive and does a really great job. I am sending an example that took about 30 seconds to add the print.
GB GONE
Badfish and charkins hit the nail on the head...Ebay will find hyperlinked text out to another website...its easy to create a search for that type of html. Putting the text in your pictures is the best idea, especially if you host the pictures on your website. Ebay can't say a thing then!!!!! (I think ??) Jim Oh yeah...we can now send all our pics to badfish or charkins for editing & text ....right???!!!
alsworms
Well I USED to be pretty decent at adding text to pictures. Just for fun, I messed around with this one tonight. Took me 15 minutes to do this ONE picture!! Think I'll stick to the old fashioned method.
charkins
I would be glad to add text to some pics as long as it didn't get out of hand. I would be willing to do it for a few samples. I have been wanting some of Chris's meathead and long eel worms any way. . Some of Ghostbaits slithers and creatures would be nice too. . Let me know if I can be of assistance Cal
GB GONE
PM me your address and the colors you like...I'll see what I can do !!! Jim
alsworms
.......and the ended auctions just keep on coming. Another 9 of 'em ended today for having my web address in the location section. So.......it got me to thinkin' I'll contact a couple friends who actually work for Ebay. Both of them told me that Ebay.......under no circumstances......will end an auction UNLESS it is reported by an ebay member. They both said with the billion-and-some-odd number of auctions that are listed at any given time, there is no way they will go after a small time worm salesman because of a website link. They are too busy trying to catch those selling firearms, drugs, porn, and such. Kinda makes a fella think.........hmmmmmmmm.............. cullin8s
I thought about it some more and know how it probably can be done, use your www. site as a watermark on your picture. Hey chris, just watch to see whos hand pours dont get pulled and you'll know who did it lol.
GB GONE
Wait...I haven't had but one cancelled so far :!: :!: Watermark would work also!! I wonder if you put it in the backround of your auction page or made one of those crazy group of letter things that follows your pointer around (I hate those things!!!) with you site address!!! Chris...do you still get charged for the auction?????? If so, I think Ebay is doing it..mo money!!!! jim
NJFishRGuy
If someone is reporting the sites, and some eBay-employed human is actually going to the sites to check if a web site is listed, it's not going to matter if the web site address is in a watermark or photo.
