alsworms
Chris...do you still get charged for the auction?????? If so' date=' I think Ebay is doing it..mo money!!!! [/quote'] Nope - believe it or not, Ebay is actually giving me full refunds for those listings. Miracles DO exist!!!
overkill
I think that is crap!! I have looked a lots of different ebay auctions that have a web addy on them. In fact most of the time it helps me determine if I a going to buy something, because I can find out more info about the product. I seems to me that Ebay has become too greedy. normally when that happens, Well... the goose is killed to get all the golden eggs inside. Will
I do not think adding text or watermarks to your pictures will work either. I believe you may be able to get away with it a couple of times but eventually you will get caught. I am also not sure if there is someone doing this on purpose and providing eBay with our auction posts to be reviewed, or if it just eBay going on a "website link hunt rampage". I also got one of my auctions cancelled today (first one for me). I just hope they have the decency of not charging me for it when I had more than 5 days left. Hepefully, the partial copy of the e-mail I received today from eBay pasted below may clarify some misinterpretaions we have, and give us a better understanding of what eBay exactly wants from our auctions. May the "Force" be with you All! This is not permitted, as you are providing a link to a site that is notallowed as outlined below. We realize you may not have been aware of this rule, but including these links on the View Item page is not permitted by eBay. Please remember that a "link" is defined as anything that will allow someone access to a remote or third-party web page. There are "static" links (written text that may be typed or cut-and-pasted into the address line of any web browser) and "hyper" or "clickable" links (embedded in the HTML code of an auction listing). Both types of links will allow someone to access a web page and are not allowed under eBay's revised Links and Credits policy. Additionally, our Links and Credits guidelines state the following: "eBay allows sellers to place the following types of links in your item's description: - One link to a page that further describes the item being sold in that listing. - One link to your email address that opens an email client for potential bidders to ask questions about the item in that listing - Links to photos of the item for sale. - Links to your eBay or Half.com listings. - One link to your About Me page (in addition to the About Me icon already provided by eBay). - Links that provide credits to third parties. If you have a logo for any of these links, it may be no greater than 88x33 pixels. (Exception - links to your eBay or Half.com listings). Linking to web sites that offer to trade, sell or purchase goods or services, or including links for any purpose other than those listed above is not allowed. Prohibited links include, but are not limited to: - Links to web pages that offer to trade, sell or purchase goods or services outside of eBay - Links to web sites or pages offering merchandise is not permitted on eBay - Links to sites that solicit eBay User Ids or passwords from bidders - Links that encourage bidders to place their eBay bids through a site other than eBay" Please note that the View Item page is meant for describing a specific item, not for general business advertisements. Allowing links to sites off eBay is detrimental to sellers that are listing only on eBay and counting on that traffic. The purpose of the change is to focus on the intent of our View Item page policy, which is to describe an individual item, not a seller's business or other items. This notice is based solely upon review of the aforementioned listing. We encourage you to review all of your listings to ensure full compliance to our guidelines. If found to be in violation of one or more of our guidelines, your current listings will be subject to further disciplinary action, including the cancelation of your listings. We would encourage you to review this policy and how it effects the way you list your items on eBay. In addition, the policy and FAQ page may help to further clarify points of the Links and Credits policy. You will find these pages at the following URLs: http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/listing-links.html http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/listing-links-faq.html For information on infringing or illegal items, as well as information on other eBay listing guidelines, please visit the following URL: http://pages.ebay.com/help/sell/item_allowed.html Future listings that demonstrate a pattern of violations may result in the termination of all of your listings, and repeated occurrences may jeopardize your eBay account status. We sincerely value you as a member of our trading community and look forward to a continued successful relationship. To ensure this relationship, we must respectfully ask that you abide by our guidelines and User Agreement in the future. We thank you in advance for your cooperation. woodsac
In other words, if you do not run an 'ebay store' that dumps thousands of dollars a year into ebay, than you are not going to benefit It sounds like they are trying to force people to use the ebay stores to bring in more revinue for themselves? What if you have a link that goes directly to a picture used for describing the item you are selling, and make the picture a clickable link? I'm sure they'll catch that too
badfish03
So by this letter I guess you can provide a link for your potential customers to look at the item on your website for that specific item only, but then again that violates a later rule about not providing links to a site that sells outside of Ebay. So its up to them to decide who they are going to screw
Mojo
It sounds to me like the answer is in Will's message. "- One link to a page that further describes the item being sold in that listing." Write up a new page for your website specifically "describing" the bait you have for sale on ebay. Be sure to include the ebay logo and/or a description that references ebay on the page to make it legitimate. If you prefer, don't include a link to your ebay description page from your regular website. It doesn't say that you can't have links on your external website's description page to the rest of your website.
Will
At this point with all these rules that make you think you can get away with something and later reading an additional rule that voids your initial plan of attack, I think the only way you could somehow make a reference to your site would be to include a link to you website e-mail account (assuming that your e-mail has the domain name of your website) and hope, maybe pray, that the prospect buyer is somewhat a computer/Internet savy and realizes that the domain name of the e-mail address is also a website address and decides to stop by to check it out. Can anyone come up with something better? May the "Force" be with you All!

Will
Well' date=' I went down in a blaze of glory by having my web site address in the location. [/quote'] Jim, That was risky, but like I say, if you are going to be brought down for something, you make sure it is because of "darn good reason" Good luck with your sales, I know you are doing pretty well! GB GONE
I guess the "seige" has subsided as I have noticed many hand pour auctions have the website address right in the auction or as a big banner running through the auction....I watched the auctions through closing to be sure they didn't get shut down :!: Game on !!!! Jim PS I'm almost not sure I want people on Ebay to go to my site as many are bidding up the prices past what they could get the baits for straight from my site !! alsworms
I actually got a few interesting responses from the folks at Ebay when I sent them my expletive-filled email about web addresses in our auctions. Surprisingly, they returned my email. Even more surprisingly, they were apologetic. Even MORE surprisingly, they didn't end my auctions this week, and every one of them had an Ebay-Bashing paragraph at the end! Go Figure. GB GONE
i've looked for a patch or some Pourers Anonymous classes but I can't find any here!!! I blame this totally on Chris (Al's worms), Jake (woodsac), Mojo (Joel), Bass8Baits (Javier), Zach (Big Z) and I have given all your names to my wife!!! She will be contacting each of you shortly!!! If all you guys would not have poured such inspiring baits, answered so many questions so thoroughly, and otherwise just made this such a good time, I never would be in this predicament!!!! Now I woefully spend my time looking for the next great color or designing the next "super" bait.....between pouring baits...All the while wondering how come I didn't start this years ago because it is a BLAST!!! Thanks guys!!! Jim PS Sure I forgot a few other that were inpirations as well...when I remember your names, I'll pass them along to the wife !! Mojo
I'VE FOUND THE CURE!!!! It's called work. 10 hour nights (I don't work days like normal people) cut into my pouring time. I have to split my "awake" time between a couple hours in the morning when I get home and a few hours after my wife gets home.
