Joshua Russell
Hello everyone, I am new to pouring my own baits, and have a lot of questions. I am interested in pouring a large swimbait 10 or 12 inches that I can use for muskies. What type of mold would be best suited for this type of bait? I would also like to know how to pour a two tone bait with say a dark back and a white belly. How much time do I have to pour this so the plastic does not mix in the mold?? Also, I am wondering if I can paint my finished baits with an airbrush for a custom look?? Is that something that anyone else does?? I would like to make one look like a rainbow trout. Any help you can give me is much appreciated. Thanks and God bless. Joshua
jigmeister
Joshua, You can copy (make a mold) of any swim bait easily if it has a flat side on it . Typically most swimbaits will be flat on the back . I think Lurecraft sells a mold like you're looking for if you don't want to make one . For a multi colored bait you just pour the lighter belly color in first and then gently pour the darker back color in over it . You don't want to wait too long or you can have problems with the two layers not bonding together well. As far as painting baits afterwards theres a big thread going on that one right now ..................good luck ,Jigmeister
