BuMMeRBaits
Found out a new way to make a master bait out of scullpy clay, kinda the complete opposite of how others do it. (At least I think, not heard of it being done this way.) I took some of the clay made a nice square/flat box big enough to fit a bait onto. I took the bait I wanted to make a copy of and jammed it down into the clay to make the cavity. (Works best with hard baits, like some of your kids hard plastic bugs) Put the mold into the oven, baked as normal. Let sit around for about a day, used the dremel tool to fix any flaws, and then I painted it with several light coats of High-Heat Engine Enamel Paint. I let the paint dry for 48 Hours. Poured of my firsts test baits with this method last night, check out the 2 new pic's I posted in photos area. I could not belive how well the baits came out and even how much better they came out of the molds. Just thought I would put this up to share, as it was something that took me awhile to try to get worked out, and thought some of you guys might be interested in it. woodsac
The mold for my swimbait tails is made from sculpey I didn't even cook it Just made my design, apply a little worm oil or pam, and pour. Before it is completely cool, I turn the mold upside down onto a piece of aluminum. That way, both sides of the tail are shiny and it helps even out the glitter in the tail. vishezfish
Great IDEA!! I thought about trying that.... You can also make a mold of your bait in liquid latex and pour plaster to get a hard copy and then push it into the sculpey clay!! I never tried it but it may work, sculpy clay it pretty $$$$ For making molds!!! But it is a coll idea!!
