WidowMaker
I work out of my home and have placed my telephone number on the national "Do not call registry". This past week i have received several calls from telemarketers asking for me by my business name. I work thirds and often wake up to answer the phone just in case it may be important. Before i placed my number on the do not call list i was getting calls from telemarketers on an average of once every thirty or so minutes six days a week. I hope that garbage doesnt start up again. Has anyone had this type of problem before?
cheesehead
My solution to this problem was to dump my land line and go with just my cell phone. I got rid of the calls and saved a couple of bucks at the same time.
badfish03
Cheesehead got an email from our IT person at work saying that within the next 60 days or so that cellular phone numbers will be legal for telemarketers. Maybe only a Texas thing but I doubt it. Robert
woodsac
There's a bogus email going around right now that says that they are going to publish your cell # on a list for tele-driveme-crazy-marketers. Not true!! Check out a site like urbanlegends or snopes and you can read about it.
overkill
anyone who decides to telemarket cell phones is asking for a lawsuit. I am surprised that no one has taken these telemarketers to the bank already. If I pay for my phone, my phone line, my minutes don't call to sell some scam to me, unless you want to pay for my line
WidowMaker
One thing i did before putting my number on the "do not call list" was to get an index card and write something that sounded "official" and then read it off to the telemarketer. Just remeber to use a very stern voice when doing it. Something such as.... "You have illegally accessed a secured internal data transference line for the united states department of defense.....please stay on the line while this call is being monitored and traced to the source of its originating transmission". Try it once.....and then listen to the telemarketers come unglued. If i had thought of it i could have recorded their reactions and made a ton of money by doing so. GB GONE
There was a rumor about the release of cell phone #'s to telemarketers and also to publish a phone directory of cellular #'s!!! I know that in the State of GA there has been a law that is being considered to allow for the above to happen ONLY if you give written consent. If consent, in writing, is not obtained....fines and jail time result from just one attempt to skirt the consent!! WHen a telemarketer calls, I jusy keep saying "hello..hello...hello and then I say nice and loud..I guess it was one of those $%^ telemarketers but they must have hung up!!! cheesehead
One thing that telemarketers can't do is hang up on you. occasionally I would turn the call into a cleaned up version of one of those 1-900 adult lines. It becomes very annoying to them when you start asking them what they are wearing, What color are their eye's, hair etc. if they would say somthing dirty. etc
BassnG3
When I get a telemarketer on the phone I just set the phone down and then hang it up in five minutes. That way they can waste only their time and not mine!!! Scott
