Tuna
I purchased a couple Curado BFS XG reels and both have one big issue. The brake adjustment dials are very tough to turn. Looking on Reddit, this is a very common issue with many models of Shimano Curado and I believe other Shimano baitcast models. I just called Shimano. They said they don't offer any tech support, and the only option is to send the reel in. This is crap! The BFS XG does not have a screw that could be backed out a bit to relieve the bind like some "K" models do. One poster said that to loosen the brake dial, you have to reduce spool tension. So a person has to mess with both to dial in casting performance? Not a good solution. Has anyone come up with a fix? I really don't want to get into the internals of the brake system because I believe the brake dial position is clocked to the brake hub. I do yearly maintenance on my reels and for some friends too. Thanks in advance. Edited December 5, 2024 by Tuna
