Carolina Slim
Is it the the general consensus that LC has the best colors with the exception of the few that alsworms mentioned for MF? What about the powder vs. the liquid. Does it work just as well
alsworms
I like MF's powders and hi-lites more than Lure Craft's because they seem to have a more brilliant color and withstand heat longer. The powders work great, but you are obviously much more limited in your choices. Another note on MF's colors: Again, some guys may have had better luck, but this is my opinion..... Stay away from these 3: Watermelon (turns yellow with high heat) Violet & Pumpkin (WAY too light). And one more thing while I'm ranting ............ I wish MF would come up with another way of packaging their colors. Those screw lids are awfully messy. I can't keep the color from running down the sides and all over my hands. If anyone has a solution to this problem, I'd sure like to know about it. Chris
Mercury
Calhoun will also be dealing with dyes shortly. But you have to buy it by the gallon. Price, unknown. But its somthing to look forward to.
Haebar
Chuck (Calhoun's) said they already make 4 colors but they are a custom order for one big manufacturer. I didn't ask him if I could buy some because I wouldn't have a use for a gallon of any color at one time. Does this stuff go bad?
Mercury
Dyes wont go bad really, They settle, and need to be mixed, But as long as it does not evaporate its fine. With Lure Crafts dye, you can add worm oil to it to replace the carrier in it, or thin down the dye if need me. Chuck would not state a price and said they would be carying it for resale soon. But a gallon would keep all of the plastics guys going for quite a while.
earthworm77
Chris....how are you buddy?, I've noticed that most other manufacturers colors bleed. I rely mainly on LC's
alsworms
Hey There Craig. Had to launch your website to make sure that was you I use mainly Lure Craft for liquids and MF for powders. There are just a few of MF's liquid colors that I rely on; amber green, crayfish, transparent colors, etc. Great to have you on the board!!
