finlander
I don't know why this screen has changed color but here's my question. Deer hair is dyed to get the different colors. What can be used to get dark stripes or spots on light colored hair? Thanks. Anyone do this instead of tying different colored hair?
finlander
I just saw it on the tutorials. Any one brand the best? These things won't bleed?? Thanks.
Gr8flyz
Permanent markers can be used! Sharpies work OK! If you can find them, Chartpak AD markers work well also. Chartpak markers are sold in art supply stores & some fly shops may carry them. They have a wide range of colors that you won't find with Sharpies. kingfish
I've tied bucktail jigs in an all white and used partially filled cans of dye over a camp stove with the hook on the rim and the head with about 2/3 of the jig in the dye just hanging in grooves cut in the can. I was going for a red body with the bucktail tips still white, I'm sure they would take on any combination of color, they will bleed up the hollow hairs so keep an eye on them. finlander
Before i knew markers could be used, I asked a lady at work about Rit dyes. I told her I felt that the dyes would bleed, and she suggested using vinegar to stop the spread of the dye. Something to try. Thanks for the responses.
