clemmy
Just wondering if there's a better way to do this and get a complete coat on a spinnerbait blade...So far all I can figure out is to heat blade and lay it down, sprinkle powder on it, pick it back up and shake, put in oven to cure... Richoc
Spray the powder on them. One of the members is doing them. He is doing large #'s. Like 1000's at a time. He can do them for you if you are looking for large numbers.
Richoc
Update.... Just got a package from him. Sent some blades he did, buzz and spinners. Look great nice thin coating. Don't want to scare you off on large numbers, I am shure he would do as little a 100 per color and size.
PaBasser
What did he spray them with? Does he have a powder paint sprayer? If so how much does it cost? PaBasser
Richoc
They are sprayed with a powder gun. He has spent much time setting up and building racks to hold the blades. Not shure how much the guns cost, he has been at it a while. Powder coating jigs, spinner/buzz baits, and now doing the blades as well. I will have him chine in, because I do not remember his new handle.
topppher
I guess that I am the guy that Richoc is speaking so highly of... I am doing an order right now for 5000 colorado blades that are for a guy that plans to sell them on ebay. I charged him $40 per thousand for the coating, which averages out to be 4 cents per blade. I started out with a cheapy electro-static powder gun, which I had mixed results with, and for the $80 I paid for it, it was not a terrible investment. You can find these all over ebay all of the time. You will also need a dedicated oven, a make shift spray booth, and lots of patience. I have just ordered what I hope to be a major improvement in HotCoat's Pro series electrostatic gun... At $700, it should be able to spray all of the blades while I watch right?? I have spent many hours making racks for hanging blades on them for running bigger quantities of blades, but I can push 1000 blades thru in a couple of hours by myself... I have to make another rack so that I can have someoone else load blades on for me... then I could get them done faster... Anyway, I can do some blades for you guys, but I don't get here to TU very often, so you will prolly want to email me: topher76@charter.net Talk to you later! PaBasser
Thanks for the info. Topppher is the cheap gun worth getting? What kind of problems did you encounter? I`m not painting thousands of baits. Maybe a couple hundred at a time. Thanks, PaBasser
