GB GONE
Any that you add into your plastic or onto your plastic??? Some may have a "secret" ingredient I'm sure but I am going to start making my own. Once I get a "good" batch, I'll sample it out to see what everbody thinks!!! Joe S.
I haven't come up with anything from scratch yet but I do add some secret ingredients together which seem to work really well when cooking into the plastic as well as applying when bagging. GB GONE
I'm going to "cook" up some garlic stuff this weekend from a recipe I happened on to....I will probably have some samples to send out to try if anybody ends up being interested!!! jim
bassassazzin
Ghost....try adding some shrimp scent to the garlic, I did this last year and the bass ate it up pretty good. I got an idea a few weeks ago and did some searching on the web. I am going to give this idea a try and see how well the stuff scents plastic....will let you know. VARick
I ran into this thread about homemade scent. Very basic I'm sure.. but a start for those who might like to experiment. Scent thread Rick
MarshManiaC
I have a blend that works great for both bass and saltwater fishies... I market it as a lure marinade but I'm quite sure it'd work well mixed with plastic
Pop
I have a secret ingredient for trout, but it is in powder form and is not mixing well with the plastic. I have taken this ingredient, mixed it with flour and water to make a paste, form it into small balls, put it on a hook and the trout eat it up. If I can get it to mix with the plastic properly, I plan on making pre rigged trout worms with the scent. I am going to try the balls on panfish ie bluegills, crappie, perch etc. this year. Who knows, maybe a bass will hit it, and then I really gotta get it to mix with the plastic. Pop

Pop
This is what makes everyone here so great. Willing to share my burden. But wanting to be as great as I can be, I will shoulder the secret burden myself, thus relieving everyone else of the stress.
nerdy
its funny... i actually just tried out some homemade scents a couple of days ago. however, they were more for slime coat purposes. i mixed some crisco and italian dressing togetherto form a paste. i dabbed it on the lure and tested it on some bedding fish. they seemed to react more once it was applied. im eager to order some of the blood that bps has and mix it in. siebler_custom_baits
Nerdys scents actually helped IMO the fish kept coming back to the jig until the scent was gone then id add more. (yes i was with him when testing on these bedding fish) Funny simple ideas work. Ive used Shortening oil and Powdered shrimp before and it works well. Just blend together and it mixes well and applys easily.
MarshManiaC
I've heard of people mixing in some petroleum jelly with their scents to make a "butter"...
bassassazzin
If anybody is interested in a new scent formula for soft plastics, contact me through this site or gobassin.com. It's called UPPER HAND. Comes in three diffferent formula's. gabassnerd has done a trial on them, using it both by marinating some plastics, and cooking it in plastic. He said the Upper Hand had great results, using it both ways! Thanks, Doug
GB GONE
I do really like Doug's scent. Cooks in great and has a scent that lingers. My partner caught a 7lb + fish the first time out with his scented baits. In all we bagged aver 15 fish in 3 hours with many in the 3-5lb range. I'll be "lake testing" his scent again tomorrow and will post results. I have pictures, just didn't have the digital this time. Jim
clemmy
My question is, if we want to play around with our own concoction...where do you get the raw materials? I've been using pro-cure, but i'd love to find a seller of shad extract, crawfish extract etc....
