rixon529
Out of curiosity - of those who wear a respirator: do you use a full or half mask type? If you wear a half mask type - do you wear safety glasses?
sj_bill
I wear a half mask with no eye protection.

nova
I use a full face mask because I had a 2 cup pyrex full of hot plastic explode on me. Not a lot of fun. Ya ever see the cartoon where the little dog scares the cat and the cat jumps to the ceiling and hangs there. Well, that's what I felt like. NJFishRGuy
Half mask and no eye protection (though I do wear polycarbonate glasses).
Tubeman
Full mask, just purchased 2 weeks ago. What a difference if you have your head over the plastic (dipping tubes ect). I used a 1/2 mask for a couple of years with safety glasses, but evapourated plastisol always irratated my eyes. There is no comparison to having a full mask, its like being in another room
bigbasser
Tubeman, Where did you get the mask? What kind? Thanks
nova
I noticed the same thing Mike. Your eyes don't dry out.
Tubeman
Its a North 5400 series full face mask, I purchased it at an industrial supply store. About 120 CND...worth every penny. I also use the over the shoulder air pick up tubes, so I'm drawing cleaner air from behind me. here's a link http://www.aramsco.com/dopage.htm?i_itemno=52550&_mc=mo the tubes are also supplied by North Mike

ceb2
Hey to all, Can you use the paper painters mask ?
woodsac
Hey to all' date=' Can you use the paper painters mask ?[/quote'] Something is better than nothing But the paper masks are designed to stop dust particles, not fumes. Technically, you shouldn't use those for painting either! You need something that has a filter that protects against 'organic vapor'. The respirator cartridge should have "OV" marked on it somewhere.
