Making a soft tail for a hard bait

Recommended Posts

I have made a VERY large lure for muskies in Canada, has a forked tail and everything. But..that large wooden tail might get in the way. I have never pour a plastic. I am thinking about replacing that wooden tail with aa soft, forked one. I have a few plastics to remelt. I want to know the type of mold to use. I have read the tutorial here at this site, using silicon as the mold. Is this a viable method, or is a hard mold needed. When I complete that, how would one attach the soft tail to the wood lure. If you have heard of Musky Innovations, their Shallow Invaded and Deep Diver baits have this soft tail, albeit a plastic body. I feel that large tail may get in the way should a muskie try to take it from the rear. Any suggestions for this rookie?? :?
