finlander
Looking to rig the 20" soft pike lure after I pour it. Where can I find the largest single hooks at? Also, is a swim tail that difficult to make? I mean, does my pattern have to be perfectly symmetrical for it to perform correctly? Thanks again. woodsac
Tacklewarehouse sells an Owner 11/0 worm hook. http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/descpage-OOW.html Check out BPS or Cabela's in the salt water section. In terms of a rubber swimbait, the tail is the most critical aspect of the entire lure. Actually I'd say it's a toss up between the tail and the balance. The tail will determine how straight the lure runs on retrieve, how hard the tail kicks, and how fast the lure can be retrieved.
overkill
I have been experimenting with tail designs for this swimbait I am making. I learned the hard way that tail design makes a huge difference. I wasted about 40 dollars in mold material to find out my tail was worthless. Since that I have experimented with half a dozen designs and sizes of tails, and I made inexpesive molds of just the tails and glued them to the body to try them out. It has paid off because I have found a tail size/design that moves the whole body of my bait.
