tunderwood01
What is the trick to painting spinner baits with Cretex? When I try in wants to bead up like water on a waxed car. I have been using vinyl and I like it. I dont like the fumes or the limited colors. The Cretex is just more available and comes in more colors. Your input is apprecieated. Thank you
basskat
I've never had a problem with the Createx. Are you using a primer? I use Createx white as the base coat.
Richoc
You might need to degrease you heads. If you are pouring your own, it is the candle carbon. If buying them they are cast in a silicon mold. Clean with paint thinner. Dawn dishwashing liquid, hot water. Water based paint will not stick and will bead up and drip off. basskat
On the same train of thought with Rich, the faster you paint lead after pouring the better.
Richoc
Very true. If your ever trying to shoot a head that came from a silicone mold. You will freak the paint just beads and separates all off the lead. Really through me through a loop when I had been using water based paints for about a year with no problems. It was like trying to paint with 2% milk.
tunderwood01
Thaanks Richoc. I will try to clean them first. I have not been cleaning them. I will give the thinner a try.
Richoc
Warning to strong of a thinner will jump start oxydiation. The graying will start before you eyes, blacking the paper towel. Start lighter. Dishwashing soap, first. Rubbing alcohol. Then go stronger. Clean one test a droplet of the paint on it. Stops beading your in bussiness. You just need to clean the surface. When I make ice fishing spoon, I put the whole mess in a jar with dish washing soap, hot water, shake, shake for 10 mins. Rinse in strainer. Get all the flux right off them. Heck, want to try the dishwasher?????????????
