Trailer Hooks

Recommended Posts

When I use a trailer hook, I like to use one that is a one size smaller than the main hook. Most trailers come with some surgical tubing to help secure them on the main hook, I like to put the hook on without this tubing and use a piece of plastic cut off a six-pack ring with a paper punch to secure mine, it allows more freedom for the trailer to swing.

I'm in agreement with Celticav. I like a free swinging trailer also, and use the same type material for a retainer, although I have used tiny neoprene O-rings and skirt collars cut in half both of which work great on bigger hooks.

I also usually use one size smaller hook, but will sometimes go two sizes smaller if the main hook is big, like a 5/0 or larger.
