Scuppernong????

Recommended Posts

You are right about the color and Zoom. I do know that Mann's sells a scuppernong Jelly worm. Don't see that color sold in here in New England. I've been wanting to fish scuppernaing Jelly worms since I read in Bassmaster close to thirty-five years ago, that they were the bait of choice for Harry n' Charlie. lol If anyone has a scuppernong recipe, please post. Good luck, BB's.

A guy gave me all my stuff to get started, including a book that he wrote his recipes in. One of the recipes is scuppernog. It's one of his favorite colors. I made him some lizards in scuppernog and he said they look pretty close.

6 oz. plastic

12 dr. amber

6 dr. red

6 drops black

desired amount of salt/softner/hardner etc.

All colors are LC

Try it and let me know what you think.

I grew up eating scuppernong grapes as a kid in the Carolina's. The big name companies make this bait in pretty much a translucent (when held up to a light) brown. I like the recipe above. When I make a bait similiar to scuppernong, i add a little green pumpkin as well. no flake.

I have tried it and it looks pretty good, still trying to make it look more like ZOOMS, trying more/less red/black in the mix until I get it right. Will tryo to get a picture put up, but getting ready for a Big TX this weekend and trying to get my baits finished for it.

I have also started working on a Scuppernog Red, that is the same color with Medium Red Flake, it is actually working out pretty good.
