Weve accumulated over 500 megabytes of photos alone in the gallery. were working on a system of quotas to allow new photos, but not too many from any certain individual. To keep this from happening again you will have to limit this to one or two photos a month or charge a fee to post a picture. I have alot of photos on my computor and have to clean house once in awhile too just to keep everything working properly. Photos take alot of space in a short time. redg8r Posted April 23, 2005 Report Share Posted April 23, 2005 I took alot of time to preserve all the photos between switching them out of 2 different photo gallery programs in the last 2 years & would hate to lose any photos our members find proud to display. Actually you hit home on a couple ideas were working on. 1) a free quota, all members would have, say an "X" photo limit in the gallery, if you want to add another photo, simply go into the gallery & remove an old one first. that way we have the best "X amount" of pics from everyone. All existing photos would be "grand-daddy'ed in" meaning they wouldnt count against the new quota. 2) a fee service. a fee servce would allow TU to get more webspace & bandwidth so we could host more photos, paid members could have a larger quota & possibly even thier own personal photo gallery. Also removing a picture to add a new one is a good idea. That way it wouldn't take so much space and bandwidth. If there is someone that likes to post alot of pictures and having their own gallery, they should be willing to pay for the space used. I know alot of people don't realize how much space it takes to store pictures. I am sure that most of the members wouldn't mind paying a gallery fee. I know I have no problem with it. When you come up with a price just let me know what the cost is. Will this be by the year?? Running a site like this one takes alot of time and money. People have to realize that. If all the members would contribute to this the site can only get bigger and better. Thank you for all the time, money and hard work you put into this site Jerry. Yeah or a new boat would work, either way Na, were still gonna let members show photos for free, but if you want to store a good amount of pics or would like you own personal space, then sure, help me keep the lights on My address is available for all but please dont send money this way, it just makes it harder to keep track. Were working on a new option for TU that encompasses a small fee for a ton of new features including more photos storage space, but to better answer your question, it would be monthly, yearly, whatever you choose. well probably do a free trial period also. Windknot Posted May 2, 2005 Report Share Posted May 2, 2005 Speaking of the gallery , I noticed that I had one vote as of yesterday..and got a 0, zip, nadda outta five LOL..I'm a firm believer that ANY feed back is positive feed back..PLEASE, if you rate a lure as "rubbish", realize that the reason we put our pics up (newbies like myself) is not because we are looking for accolades, but criticisms to help us grow as bait builders..I'm actually GLAD that someone saw my bait as "rubbish"..just wish they would give some advise on how to improve it.
