waterweasle
I use my lee pot to make a large amount of a given color then I chop it up and melt and pour from smaller cups on the hot plate, I tried making a simple mix of plastic with holographic glitter, with a small amount of black in it. I was aiming for a clear bait with the glitter. but it was turning a slight brown/tan. is this due to scorching, and would I just have to add heat stabilizers? nova
Yup, a little too much heat.
waterweasle
so just heating it alot slower should solve that?
james bradshaw
You may wan't to heat it slower, and check the temp with a thermometer. Heat it just enough to pour it. the holographic flake will loose it's color if heated too much as well. I think we have all burned our share of plastic. If it burns, just add a darker color to it and make something useable out of it. Good luck!
charkins
I add heat stabilizer to most all of my plastic. It keeps the plastic from scorching and I believe it helps keep the colors from changing at higher temps. Just my two cents worth. alsworms
I'm with Cal. There's a little extra stabilizer in everything I pour. Chris
