finlander
My mold is done. Whoopee! Now, how much plastic. More is better so you don't run out. If I melted enuff, and the leftovers solidify again, can these be remelted, and how many times can the plastic be melted? Does it break down after so many cycles??? Set up time too, 1 hour? Thanks, the Finn
Mercury
Set up is fast, under a say 4 min, depending on the size of your mold. I buy a gal or more at a time, Costs too much otherwise, yes, just nuke the plastic, it can be re-heated, Dont know how many times, but I have done it 4/5 times easialy. IT gets harder, the more times you melt it. I guess you could add softener and keep going and going and .....
earthworm77
You can melt and remelt until you accidentally scorch the plastic. I suggest the following. Break the baits up into 1 or 2 inch peices....extra surface area will melt quicker......microewave at 20 second intervals so you do not scorch the plastic....if this is for that 20" bait, you are gonna need a ton of remeltables.(is that a word?) finlander
Well, not pouring the whole lure, yet. Now it is only the tail portion. The silicon has seemed to cure, but still has 'that' smell. Why?? And how can I get rid of it??? Where can I buy plastic in a gallon, on-line, w/o calling somebody up?? Thanks. the rookie
