LaPala
This lure starts off from a reverse-engineering of a photo of seluang. I trace the outline of the fish in CorelDraw##, refine the outline to just a basic shape & work it out from there. Things that went through a few changes including lead weighting, tow-point, lip size & angle but I finally got it to "swim" with a tight vibrating action. Tools used: Scroll Saw Hack Saw Snap-blade Sand paper (240 grit) (Nothing fancy so anyone can start right away from a visit to the local hardware store) Material list: Jelutong board (a local soft wood) Auto primer ( Ureta 8 ) 20 gauge stainless steel wire 1mm stainless steel sheet Lead strips (or just pound some lead sinkers to a flat sheet and cut to size) Cosmetics: Rattle-can spray paint Aluminium foil for kitchen sink repair Inkjet-printer Step 1: Gluing Template in place Template is drawn with CorelDraw or any other vector based software for it's accuracy. Hand-drawn is okay too but my artistic talent in this department is sadly lacking. If you're hand drawing your lure, just draw one side of the top view; fold & cut it out to make it symmetrical. This is a small lure I'm making here so the board actually can accommodate the cutting of 2 lures at once (notice the 2 top view templates glued in place?) Step 2: Cut it out I use simple handtools and this part is done with a scroll-saw Step 3: Hacksaw the Grooves The groove for inserting a thru wire is cut with a hacksaw. The inset shows it's best to cut true (
