Haebar
If you were a beginner and only wanted to spend around $10 on glitter, what colors and sizes would you get? I'm planning on getting it at Lure-Craft. Thanks,

Haebar
What about those micro-strips? Ever use them?
alsworms
If your budget is 10 bucks, add silver holograph flake also. Just a touch will give your baits a variety of different hues, depending on the liquid color. I use mostly small & medium flakes (.015 and .035). Black, green, and red are good large flake (.062) colors. Never tried the string glitter........ Chris
Haebar
Chris, Thanks for the tips! That will be about $10 or pretty close: fine and medium hologram silver flakes, and large black, green and red flakes. Perfect! I appreciate it! alsworms
I put my foot in my mouth. What I meant was if you want large glitter, red, green, and black are good choices. If I'm paying around 10 bucks, here's what I'd get: small and medium holograph med. red med. green large black Hope it makes sense this time. I didn't have my coffee before the last post Chris
Haebar
Chris, Would you get the silver or gold holograph or both? Thanks,
alsworms
The silver is much better because it can be used in just about any color. I don't use much gold holi, but it does look good in watermelon color
earthworm77
You can't get it done with $10.00 You need too many colors. Black Purple Red Green Gold Silver and then purple strand.........too many choices. To few will limit what you can do.
Haebar
You're exactly right. I realized that when I went back to the catalog. Looks more like $25-30. But that's fine because I'm cutting back on the number of colors (plastic dyes) I'm getting. Will try mixing up my own combinations with getting the three primary colors and going from there. Will also get pearl white, white, and a few other custom colors. I'm not really clear on these "highlight" colors... The catalog says they transmit one color on transmission and a different one on refraction. I can't remember ever seeing such a color but maybe I did and didn't realize it. What do you guys think of highlights? How often do you use them? Thanks,
alsworms
OHBOYOHBOYOHBOYOHBOY!!! Man do I EVER use those hi-lites!! They are excellent for giving an irridescent look. The possibilities are endless with hi-lites, but here's an example; Take a couple drops of black (smoke) in 4 ounces of plastic, add some black flake and just a touch of blue hi-lite (1/8 teaspoon). The end result is a worm that looks almost like a blue neon when held up to the sunlight. In muddy or stained water, the smoke will be more dominant. Take that same worm and put it in clear water and the blue really shows, giving the worm a nice shad color. Again, this is just a simple hi-lite worm, but very effective. You can have hours of fun when you get into using hi-lites. I don't know how it's done, but it's simply amazing what those hi-lites can do to the plastic. Haebar
Great! What are your favorite colors for highlights? And do you like M-F or Lurecraft's better? Thanks,
alsworms
I listed my favorite hi-lites in the other post. As for MF and Lure Craft, my opinion is they are exactly the same when it comes to the hi-lite powders. I do, however, like MF's white pearl much better. Lure Craft's tends to dull with high heat. Chris P.S. If you want to make a nice Red Shad color with a single pour, just add red hi-lite to black. It's not as fancy, doesn't look as good, but it's just as effective.
