Any good place for balsa wood?

My hobby shop stopped carrying any pieces big enough for carving baits. All I can find now is 1/4" flats. Anybody found a good alternative to balsa let me know? Thanks- Sloegoe

That's where I buy my balsa. But, the balsa block advertized

for $0.99 is not hard enough to make a good lure.

Call them on the phone and ask for a hard balsa block.

It will only cost you 25-30 cents more per block.

Tell them you want balsa with at least 11 lb. density.

This is 11 lbs/cu.ft.

You will be much happier with the hard vs soft balsa for bait making.
