Monty
what is your favorite fishing line you like best? i just bought and tried spider wire and i think the stuff is just crap! whats your opinion? Monty
Richoc
There is no line on the market currently that I like. And my refridge crisper drawer is running very low. So lets get some opioins up here.
woodsac
I'm a huge fan of Yo-Zuri hybrid :!: Not only does it have great abrasion resistance, it holds up strong even after it's been frayed. It's a pretty limp line and doesn't have much memory. It cuts right through the grass with no problems! I just ordered their new 'Super Soft' hybrid. Just got it today and will try it this weekend. Should have less memory and be more manageable. I now have hybrid on 7 different bait casters. But I'm using Tripple Fish 100% fluorocarbon on my spinning reel. Tripple Fish is a very, very underrated line. Very inexpensive, yet very strong and reliable.
Delw
I fish alot fo tournys and we fish in extream heat. memory is a key issue with me andI respool a min of once a month The best line I have found is p-line floroclear in 6-8lb test for dropshotting and split shotting p-line floroclear in 10-12 for texas rigs and pictching cranking, blades and jerks, trilene has also very little mem. all other p-lin products are garbage( my opinion ) recently cause I spool so much I have been using berkly biggame supreme for everything. its cheap and I can pick it up at walmart. I used to get all my reels respooled at teh local fishing store but they shut down the one at my end of town so now I just do it myself. For night fishing with floresants and black lights the only one to use is trilene its the best, very low mem. out west our style of fishing is completely different and our heat factor plays a big part of line memory we fish in 110? weather a good 4 months out oh the year. Back east I dont think you guys get as much memory as we have in AZ. My dropshot rods with the floroclear I can go up to 4 months with out respooling and I have no memory. Windknot
I never cared for spiderwire myself. For my baitcasters, I used to really like the Berkley Whiplash...they quit making it Anyhow, I'm now partial to Tuff Line, but am tempted to hop on the "Power Pro" wagon, as my tuff line tends to develop frays alot easier than I care for, and it seems to help me with my backlashes ALOT once it gets thoroughly saturated ( 99% my fault  ) for spinning, trilene XL..without a doubt..and MAN do I get the flack for that one
GB GONE
Sunline FC Sniper flourocarbon (8lb) is on my drop shot. This is some awesome line but quite expensive and hard to get your hands on!!! I like yozuri hybrid or cobra-x....For flipping, I just love some nice Fireline in at least 20lb... HATE power pro!!!!! My experience with PP has been bad and worse. Guess that is why there are so many lines out there!!! Find one that you are confident with and stick with it. Getting to know how your baits feel on whatever line you are using is crucial to catching fish...flouro has made me a much better "catcher" as I can feel a bluegill pee on my line now :-D Jim
woodsac
Jim, I've been using the Sunline Sniper for almost a year on my dropshot rig. You're right it's good stuff, but it's expensive You can almost always get it at tacklewarehouse. Check out the Tripple Fish fluoro. It's only a fraction of the price and it's great fluoro! It's 100% fluoro made in Germany I also agree with Jim on the Power Pro. Blah If you want to try braided line, try the Tripple Fish Bully Braid, or the P-Line Spectrex. Neither one cut into the spool very bad at all. The Tripple Fish seems to hold it's color a lot longer than any other braid I've tried. Braid is bad around rocks Nothing tougher in vegetation but rocks cut it like butter I flip heavy stuff with 20 lb hybrid. If I'm using braid I use 50 lb. Don't let the weights fool you. Fluoro, braid and a lot of new lines in general, are very small in diameter.
Basscrack
I also use the same line as del, i live in az as well and only fish with P-line flouroclear. The 100% flourocarbon just isn't as good of line. On top of that the flouroclear is cheaper
sloegoe
If you want a braid I'm partial to POWER PRO , it's a good product and relatively inexpensive. I fish all condition all over California, Which is very diverse in water types and structure, and it's been 5 years since I've used anything but P-LINE CXX 8lb max on spinning though, but it plays more like 12lb.[/u]
Windknot
Wow, maybee I'll save my coin and forgo the Power Pro Has anyone used it in the higher tests? I generally spool up with eighty plus for Pike and Musky..not so much because you need it (caught my first fourty incher on 14 lb mono) but, at 20 plus bucks a pop for baits, you wanna make sure you can keep 'em on Now that I'm making most of my own baits..I REALLY don't wanna lose them!! Ask my buddy, he watched me tip my canoe trying to save a ratty jerk bait ,I made, just the other day  Lost the bait anyhow, and got a wet behind to boot . So, how bout it? Any "high poundage" lines to compare with tuff line or the old Berkley Whiplash?
sloegoe
I've used power pro in many tests, I forget what the max test is. I used to flip hair raisers in the bridge pilings of the San Mateo Bridge in S.F. bay for stripers. I remember being very pleased with whatever that test was and it was HIGH. johnnytheboy
power pro is more or less standard in the uk for pike fishing, i use 65lb and have lifted lures out with it no probs 25lb berkley big game for bait fishing its the out and out hard man of the monos
RiverMan
I run PowerPro for virtually everything now, it's very hard to beat. It does have some nasty habits like wrapping around the rod tip and oh, don't let you bait get tangled with someone else running the same line, a mess! As far as "high test" is concerned we run 100# Power Pro for sturgeon which is the equivalent diameter of 20# mono. We do use a 100 pound front on the PowerPro tho as braids have very poor abrasion resistance by comparison to monos and sturgeon like to rub in the rocks once hooked. jed
