GB GONE
Well, the "area" theives finally got to my stuff. People in our city were seeing a lot of vehicle thefts and break-ins recently. Like a fool, I left my rods, reels, tackle bags and electronics (X 65 and GPS) in my vehicle the other night!!! All my stuff...gone !!! Except for the AWESOME hair jigs from Smitty and some of my own hand pours (they missed some of the best stuff...). One of my bags had all my cranks which were mostly lucky craft and othe Japanese baits that cost me a small (maybe large) fortune... I guess these guys were never taught by their momma (or church), that Jesus was a fisherman!!!! I guess they missed the 10 commandments lesson also... :!: Maybe starting out fresh will be good...Any recommendations on red/reel combos, baits..For now I will just be getting "jiggy" with it on my son's Zebco 33... Jim PS Be on the less expensive side with ideas as insurance doesn't pay well...LOL...

nova
A buddy of mine had a break-in a few years ago. They got all of his fishing gear( rods included) as well as all of his air tools, some new in a box. The total was $17000; and then the insurance came into the picture and stole from him on the other end. In the end he only got $8500 back. Good luck with your claim. Lure--Prof
So sorry to hear that... When I was in the tackle shop business, I worked with several people on insurance claims to basically make sure that the insurance company didn't take advantage of them, i.e. undervalue their tackle loss. I dealt with some agents who thought they were ones being had by an inflated claim, and then came to understand it was not so, that this stuff is expensive. Of course it was good business for us to do this, but it helped expedite the claims, and get the fishermen back on the water that much quicker. Pulling in a 3rd party expert really made a difference sometimes. Dean
texasbass1
Sorry to hear about your loss, it sucks, been there and like a fool I didn't have renter's insurance. I have had real good luck buying reels on E-bay. The one's I've gotten have been in good shape, maybe I'm just lucky. Good luck with your insurance co. GB GONE
Hey Clarence....they weren't Team Daiwa's were they .....thanks for the support guys... I guess in the whole scheme of things in life, this is a pretty small bump in the road compared to other stuff like war, etc. Jim
LaPala
Speedy Recovery Jim. I'd go cut myself a bamboo pole if that happened to me, couldn't live a day without knowing I have a rod ready when I need it (which is everyday ). [Guys I better clarify that --- "rod" refers to fishing-rod; period]
woodsac
Jim, for inexpensive, yet very durrable and reliable replacement tackle, look into the Okuma line :!: They make spinning reels, round casters and low pro casters. If you use left handed gear (like me), you'll have to wait till the end of the year for the low pro lefties I know Okuma is known for saltwater gear, but they have taken the bass fishing scene by storm! Every time I'm on the water, I can find someone else using Okuma gear! They also make rods to cover almost any situation on the water. And don't be afraid to buy some of BPS' higher end stuff The new 05' Rick Clunn and Johnny Morris stuff is pretty tight when you consider everything they offer is under $200! Right now, any order over $125 at BPS can be billed in 6 monthly installments. I just ordered some new stuff that I could never afford $500 outright, but billed over 6 months that's the way to go! Might be a good way for you to recover a chunk of your losses...but with small payments.
GB GONE
i've seen the Okuma out on the water...Have you personally used any?? I guess I can google them to find out more info.... The BPS deal is not bad. One of the rod/reel combos that went bye bye was a Johnny Morris...I loved that combo :!: . Bought it at BassPro when I went to the Bassmaster U event and they gave us a 15% off coupon... Thanks all for the "sorrow" and all the offers for tackle....TU members RULE! !!! woodsac
I have 5 Okuma reels right now Within the last 2 months, I've purchased 2 Rick Clunn's and 1 Johnny Morris. If the lefty Okuma's were on the market, I would have bought 3 of those instead BPS has the Johnny Morris combo right now for $259.98 http://www.basspro.com/servlet/catalog.TextId?hvarTextId=59153&hvarDept=100&hvarEvent=&hvarClassCode=3&hvarSubCode=1&hvarTarget=browse
GB GONE
Are those Okumas the VS or the Nemesis??? Or do you have their spinning reels??? Just curious but the spinning reels look awesome... Thanks again!!! Jim
woodsac
I have 2 Metaloid spinning reels. 1 Halogen, 1 Nitryx, and 1 Induron. I don't own the Nemesis or VS yet. They are only being produced in right hand models. Mattlures owns a Nemsis and speaks pretty highly of it
GB GONE
Decided on Shimano Scorpion 1000's...What a great choice!!!! Top of the line reels and I can throw a 1/16oz bait as far (and accurate) as my partner that is throwing a 1/4oz bait!!!! The souped up models from Japan are just the sweetest reel I've ever had in my hands...bare none.... Now for a rod that does it justice...If I can get my wife to stop buying shoes :-D , I might be able to spring for a Kistler LTA...
