Pop
I understand Bob has both 3.5 and 4.25 aluminum beaver molds. does 3/4 inch make much of a difference? Pop
woodsac
I seldom throw the 3.5", but I think it will be a big benefit as the water gets colder and the fish get a little more tight lipped. It's not just the length, the body is narrower also. I fish bigger baits, so to me the 3.5" is a finesse bait
Pop
Do you think the 3.5 would be a better jig trailer? Pop
woodsac
I think it just depends on the fishing conditions and your confidence. I use 4 and 5" jig trailers. Sometimes even a 7" brush hog as a trailer. I downsize in the winter. But lots of guys like to keep it pretty compact. If you are happy with just a little bit of the trailer sticking out past the skirt strands, then yes, the smaller one would be best for you. pourboyplastics
Everyone I have been talking too and selling too wants the 3.5 for the smallies, but I also use both the 3.5 and 4.2 for jig trailers. It all depends on the time of the year and conditions.
BuMMeRBaits
I used the 3.5 during this past spawn and it was awsome, seemed the smaller size really helped. The 4. Inch also did well but not as well as the 3.5, the 4.2 seems to be one of baits most people ask me for also.
harley-cowboy
This POST SPAWN I was on the lake alot less than I wanted to be . OK, to get to the point.... I poured the SAME mixture and made identical 4.2 and 3.5 Beeverz ( my brand name ). I fished the same areas with identical tackle ( rods and line ). I caught 8 to 1 on the 3.5 BEEVERZ than I did the 4.2. Strange enough though... I only caught LMB on the 4.2 and not one smallie, BUT, I did catch both smallies and LMB on the 3.5. NOW THE KICKER, I caught larger bass on the 4.2. If 3/4 inch makes a difference, it is up to the individual....bigger bait, bigger fish???? WHO KNOWS?
