Legendary Lures
Okay, let me try to head off a couple things at the pass so I can quickly get a good answer: - Yes, I could have used the search, but I didn't. - I'm more interested in the plastic part than actually getting deeply involved with the making of the part. Sorry, with that out of the way, here's my question: Can I expect a mold made from pine and coated with epoxy withstand the heat of melted plastic? Thanks in advance! woodsac
Yes I've even poured into uncoated wood. But make sure you coat it to get a nice shiny surface and to keep the wood from taking on moisture.
nova
Pine is a very pourous wood which means it will hold moisture and air better than a hard wood. Maybe you should try maple or ash. As for me, I only make molds out of resin now. Much better results and less problems.
GB GONE
LOL LL.... I have used a wood mold before and if it is coated well with 2 ton, you will have no problems at all. I fact, the plastic bait will cool quick as well. I tried mine uncoated and plastic found its way into the wood... Jim
