Windknot
Ok Guys, decided I wanted an underwater camera for my birthday. I plan on using it primarily for goofing around, seeing what the blips on my sonar really are, ice fishing, and keeping my kids occupied (checking bottom types and cover too  Anyhow, for those who have monkeyed with these contraptions..a question Which one would you recommend? I'm undecided between the aqua view and the Atlantis I'm also open to suggestions. I am primarily looking for durability, good lighting (stained water here..so will likely go with the L.E.D. lighting system) ease of use..and oh ya..functionability! Thanks for your time..and YUP, I know it's cheating..but I promise I'll only use my powers for good! Windknot
dvowell
I have an AquaVu Scout that I use primarily for entertainment purposes (girlfriend loves it!). It does a fair job, but I would think some of the other AquaVu lineup might be better for you. I bought primarily as a learning aid to deciphering sonar blips as well. Turns out I was right about them more often than I would thought. When using them, you have watch the current and boat speed; however. Kids love them! Drop them into a school of bluegill and watch their face light up!
basskat
I have an AquaVu 65. It's OK but you can't see as much as you might think. Range is limited by water clarity. Even clear water has its limitations. Another problem is viewing the screen in sunlight. Biggest problem I have is the mental letdown of knowing fish are in a spot I've spent 30 minutes fishing without a nibble!
Windknot
Thanks guys, went went the aqua view VT50 . I know it'll come in handy for ice fishing, and I believe it'll be a good tool for reading the bottom..and I BET it would be a blast in the girls bathroom Joke!!!! Anyhow, no-one had anything to say about the "Atlantis" plus I couldn't find much for info (their website left much to be desired) so am confident I got the biggest bang for my buck Thanks again, Bart
dvowell
Hope you enjoy your camera! If you're not already proficient at deep water fishing, it'll definately help you learn! Have fun!
