leadheadfred
Guys, I'm looking for a source for clean (new) lead in bulk... large quantities. Ingot size isn't really a consideration. I live in SE Minnesota so something within a 100 mile radius would be best but if I need to drive further, so be it. Thanks in advance. Salty's
Any plumbing supply house has nice stuff that is easy to work with, usually about $1 a lb.
dlaery
You could try Carter alloys. He is a broker and can have it delivered to you. I have bought from him before. freightquote.com can figure the freight for you if you find a place to buy it. Belmont metals is another place. The only place to drive to that I know of would be Boss Missouri. Maybe 5 people live there. That is where I get mine. The Doe Run Company. One of the largest lead mines in the world. They only want to sell trailer load quantities. But they will sell me a ton a time and I go pick it up. It is 200 miles from me. CCX (Conway Central Express) wants $450 to pick it up. I think freightquote.com quoted $250. Going there you think it is at the end of the world. It's not, but I think it is just down the road form there. leadheadfred
Thanks David. You've been a huge help. Hopefully I can google the sources your listed and dig up some contact info on them!~
Salty's
be very careful with Freightquote.com-they screwed me for $1000 last year. on a pickup. Tried to tell me it was triple the weight they measured it at then threatened to take me to collections for it. No way to measure it 4 weeks later when the invoice showed up in the mail and the stuff had been used 1/2 way.....they had no problem losing 1 skid either
