hooks2bset
I bought some rattle band skirt collars that seem tighter than I thought they would be. I have the 2 fingered skirt tool and when I spread the collar far enough to get the material though, it breaks. Do I have the wrong kind of collars? These seem to work good with out the skirt material by just putting it on the shaft of the jig but it gets real bulky with the band for the skirt plus the rattles. I mainly was wondering if there is a couple of different types that stretch more than the other? I bought these from Barlows and they are the ear type collars. Thanks, Mike
siebler_custom_baits
yeah you really cant spread them out like you can the regular collars, really sucks.
WidowMaker
If they wont work well on a two pronged skirt tool i would hate to try and use them with a three pronged one. You should send them back to the supplier.
siebler_custom_baits
every supplier i have ever gotten them from they do the same thing. The reason is the material use, it is not like the nice strechy regular collars. You learn to work with then after a while and now i can use them like they are the same as all the others
Fat Ratz
They work fine on the production skirt making tool like the one at Barlows http://www.barlowstackle.com/acb/showdetl.cfm?&DID=6&Product_ID=2003&CATID=115 I have made hundreds of them and have had but just a few break on me. Give it a try and I think you will like it. Randy
Gloomisman
I noticed that too. The way I get around it is to roll up the skirt material and push one corner throught then pull the rest of the skirt material through the collar. Works great and you wont break any more. BTW I use the cheap plier type skirt tool.
PaBasser
Hey guys, I use a little wd-40 on production tool. They slide right on using wd-40. I also have made my own production tools. The first was a crude one using a pen, then I used a stainless steel rod tappered the one end of the rod. Then I put rod in a vise, also built a vise for the tool like the one Barlow`s sells. They work great. PaBasser
