Drop shot hooks

Recommended Posts

I've been thinking about trying the standout hooks. I fish exclusively Gamakatsu's though. Nothing else seems to be a sharp. Are these hooks super sharp like the Gamakatus?

Do you want sharp, or do you want to always catch the fish ?

Stand Outs are very sharp, but because of their desigh, they stick the fish always in the top lip, they are almost self setting, you won't loose a fish because the hook didn't penitrate. I have landed every fish that has bitten these hooks, and that is well over a thousand fish, it's because of the design, not really the point, the hook pivits, the drop shot weight keeps it properly alined for instant hook up

If you ever try these, you won't use a Gommy for drop shotting again :-)

I found em at BPS. Rockhopper these hooks are great. I just started experimenting with drop shotting and the fish hook themselves. You are a genius.

Mojo, give me a call if you want to come down, we've been turning out some good fish lately here at Lewisville. Must be something in the water.

The Story behind me inventing that hook is really quite funny, it took me 15 min.

I was talking to Larry, the owner of Mojo Lures, he was cusing under his breath as he talked to me< I finnaly asked him what the neck he was doing that had him so frustrated, he said he was going fishing the next day and was trying to pre-tie drop shot hooks, and the hooks were not sticking out right, then he said I wish someone would invent a hook that stuck straight out from the line. I asked him if he thought there ws a market for such a hook?,, ne said hell yes, I hung up the hone and jumped on the computer, I had the drawing complete in 15 min, then emailed them to him, called him back and told him to check is email.

He then yelled over the phone what you just posted :-)
