redg8r
I think basskat made a typo, he meant to say, according to rockhopper (hes an inventor & our site patent advisor) It is Illegal even for personal use. The chances of Bagley beating down your door to serve papers on your personal stash of baits..... well you get it.

cotton
after reading some of the posts from the search, I got my answer I guess I need a lawyer to make my own lures !! What a revolting development this is! The whole thing makes my head hurt. Kinda makes you wonder...if a fella catches the world record bass on a copied and patented lure...could the lure maker sue for rights to the record? Think I'll just stick to store boughtn' ones. Way too much confusion. Just curious, are fly patterns patentable I wonder? (that's probably been discussed before too!) Cotton
Mallard
However if the patent has expired you are feel copy the design, even for resale. If you are uncomfortable with patent law just make copies of older baits, the patent on the early Bagley's has expried.
