BB Posted July 26, 2005 Report Share Posted July 26, 2005 i tryed searching for this but did not find much.i carved out my first 2 crankbaits.my question is do i epoxy the hook and line eyes before the primer and do i epoxy the lip in first also.or can i do that after the paint?thanks for you help. Tenacfan Posted July 27, 2005 Report Share Posted July 27, 2005 Either way you want to do it is fine. I think that it looks cleaner if you glue the lip in after you you paint it. On the flip side, you might get a better seal if you put all your components together then paint and seal it. It's just a matter of preference. Cosmetic or function. dvowell Posted July 27, 2005 Report Share Posted July 27, 2005 As far as the bills go, I like to put my bills in right after I have sealed and primed the bait. If the body is wider than the end of the bill, I put a very small amount of wood putty in the gap left on the bait and then sand it down smooth with the rest of the bait.
