Nathan
The first step is too get a website set up.(.People have to have a place too look at your baits)As for hiring a marketing firm,If you have the money too burn, that maybe a way too go.I think your best marketing tool is word of mouth..If you build a good quality product that puts fish in the boat, the word gets around.Too help you, find some guys you can trust, and use them as your pro-staff.You'll get burned by a few...but when you find the right group, they can do wonders for your sales..Nathan
woodieb8
the key thing is to establish a good track record with the local stores and guides. beginning word of mouth is an exellent start. stand behind your product always.. do a few fishing shows, get pictures, its endless, use your creativity and in time it will come. many guys are ivernite sucesses after 10 years or so. good luck woodie baits
cheesehead
Here is a few things I picked up from someone who is a lure manufacturer but always claims he isn't open marketing his lures on various message boards, some of which he is no longer allowed to participate in. Get your name out in the fishing circles as a lure maker. Participate in as many fishing forums as you can find. casually mention that your are considering selling your baits but do not openly advertise on the forums unless it is allowed or you buy advertising space. put your web page address in your signature once your business is going buy ad space on the forums (the forums cost a lot of money to set-up and run and this is one way we can keep these sites like TU in operation) Post as many pictures of your lures that you are making as you can but delete the old ones though so you don't overload the server. post pictures of fish caught on your lures. Mention how many people are using your lures (feel free to inflate this a lot) go to a lot of tournaments and market your lures at the landings create some flyer's describing your products. Sell the fact that your lures are custom made just for the person buying them. join a few fishing clubs and distribute a few baits around. give some of your baits to the forums to distribute as prizes. The most important thing you can do though is give me one of every style of bait you make.
rockhopper
"emptycooler"]I would like to market my musky lures on the internet but i'm not sure how to start.Should I design my own web page Yes unless you can aford , or barter you one and hire a marketing firm, Not unless you got money to burn or someone that has web hosting? I wouldn't, because most of these charge too much, it's better to just get you a server for around 10 dollars or less a month, if you need the name of one email me (rdlong@charter.net) and I will give you a good one to go to, that's cheep I tryed to contact the outdoor network but they haven't answered my email or phone calls! Please help. Why do you want to contact these people ?
