BEAVERS

Recommended Posts

I have a buddy of mine that gave me a beaver that he got from someone else so I can make a mold of it. I already have LC's big beaver mold, but this one is larger, in length and width. You can tell the bait was made in an alum. mold and it looks so good I would like to try to get some alum. molds on order. Only complaint is that the body of the bait is surprisingly thinner than the LC mold, especially in the head. Since I'm not sure if the mold came from Bob's or Del, I was wondering if any of you guys had any experience with both brands (for the large beaver) and could tell me which one has the thickest body. By the way, the bait I'm speaking of was from a one piece mold and I am only interested in purchasing a one piece. Also if anyone has any pics out there of their beavers and could tell me where to find them and where the mold came from, maybe I can figure out what mold this one came from. In the mean time, I'll try to post a pic of the one I have. Thanks for any help you guys might have. Sorry I was so long winded!

Borderbasser, if you're in Del Rio, it probably came from me. I have some guys down in So. Texas that asked for the bigger bait specifically.

The 6" mold comes from Bob. I don't believe he has them on his website, but you can call him and he'll shoot you one out. I don't remember the price because I ordered a couple molds at the same time, but it seems it was in the $30-$40 range for a one cavity mold.

The body isn't deep enough for my liking, so you'll have to overpour the body a bit to get enough meat for hooking it. It's easier to overpour if your plastic is a little cooler. Hotter plastic runs like water and overflows the cavity easier.
