Trojanfisherman
Reading the posts below, I was justing owndering if I can use Pyrex pouring cups to heat up plastics on an electric hotplate. Del mentioned something about them cracking. I'm afraid of using the microwave seeing as how plastic gives off toxins. Thanks Jerry
millsryno
Pyrex are for microwaves. Many guys have reported the cracking or breaking on a stove top. I am not sure I understand you logic, though. From my experience, I get more smoke from a stove top than a microwave. If it is releasing toxins in a microwave, it is doing the same on a stove. I noticed that M-F claims their plastic is non-toxicon their website. I find this hard to believe, but I am no chemist. Del, are there toxins in plastisol? texasbass1
Pyrex is not designed to be used on a stove top. It will break and at least you will have a mess to clean up if not severe burns.
nova
And don't use the micro that you eat from. Buy a cheap one for the plastic.
